About Us

Soirée Candles was born from a combination of a love of  beautiful fragrances and the need for an artistic outlet in Hermosa Beach, CA. 

Our Name

 Soirée comes from the French word for “evening”, evoking a sense of peace and relaxation when unwinding from a busy day. Whether it’s a night of self-care and wellness, or an intimate gathering with friends, Soirée Candles offers rousing aromas and an elegant sense of calmness that’s perfect for any evening.

Our Process

Soirée Candles follows the very simple, yet critical, principles of creating clean and environmentally-friendly products, especially when it comes to our fragrance oils and scents.  Our fragrances combine essential oils with other natural scents to produce rich aromas.  ​ While finding clean, non-toxic candles that are both beautiful and affordable was a challenge, we conducted extensive research before ultimately choosing coconut wax for our products. Many natural hand-poured candles use soy wax, but we discovered that the scent throw was not nearly as strong and the wax did not boast the perfect finish.   ​ It took countless hours of trial and error to perfect the process and what has resulted is the optimal burn rate and fragrance throw.

 SHOPIFY

 ​The Site is hosted on the Shopify platform. They provide us with the online e-commerce site that allows us to sell our products to you. Your data is stored through Shopify’s data storage, databases. Shopify stores your data on a secure server behind a firewall. If you choose a direct payment gateway to complete your purchase, then Shopify stores your credit card data. It is encrypted through the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS). Your purchase transaction data is stored only as long as is necessary to complete your purchase transaction. After that is complete, your purchase transaction information is deleted. Returns and Exchanges

What’s your return policy? ​

Any unused orders can be returned within 30 days of receiving the order. We only accept returns for items purchased on soireecandles.com.  If you’ve purchased one of our products from a retailer — please contact that retailer for their return policy.  In order for us to process your return, your item must be unused, unopened and in its original condition. Please note that shipping fees are non-refundable. All gift cards and select merchandise are final sale.    

How do I place a return or exchange? ​

We hope you love your product from Soirée Candles, but we acknowledge that sometimes things don’t work out.  To return your order, please reach out to info@soireecandles.com with your order number and which products you’d like to return — and we’ll send you a return label.    

How long does it take to process a return? ​

Please allow 3-7 business days for the refund to be credited back to your original form of payment.

What should I do if I receive the wrong product? ​

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is my candle releasing black soot?

Sometimes your candle will start to burn aggressively, causing black smoke to rise from the flame and black soot to appear on the container.

• - Trim your wick before each burn.
- If that doesn't stop the sooting, trim it down even farther to about 1/8""

- Try not to burn your candles for longer than 4 hours (this sometimes causes the wicks to mushroom and experience more soot). 

-  You can easily clean the soot off the inside of the candle with a paper towel and a little water, but make sure you do it when the candle is not lit and the wax is cold and hard. 

Why isn't my candle fragrance strong?

This is not a common problem, but some fragrances just have a better fragrance throw (the distance around the candle you will be able to smell it) than others (ie. floral scents tend to have better fragrance throws). 

 Here are some things to consider:

• - Smaller candles with one wick are meant to provide scent for smaller rooms.  If you are trying to fill a whole level of your house, be aware that you will need a bigger candle with more than one wick.  

-  Keep your candle away from open windows and drafts -- this will not only help the longevity of your candle, but will also keep the fragrance contained and as strong as possible. 

Why is the wick tunneling?

This is a common problem in a candle that contains a wick that is too small for the diameter of the container.  But sometime it will happen even if the wick is the right size.

• - Make sure to burn your candle for 3-4 hours during the initial burn - this will give the wax enough time to pool all the way to the edge of the container and ensure an even burn. 

- If tunneling has already happened, you can try to fix the issue by burning the candle for 3-4 hours at a time. The candle should catch up and correct itself after a few burns. ​

What do I do with the container once my candle is burned?

Don't throw it out!! Our glass and containers can be repurposed and reused. Here are some ideas:

• - Turn it into succulent planters, which are easy to grow and thrive in indirect sunlight.  

 - Use it for bathroom essentials like, makeup, brushes, Q-tips -- just make sure you get all the wax out (see below)  

 - Use as storage in the kitchen for putting snacks or candy Small vase for flowers   

 - Desk organizers for pens, pencils, or other knick knacks Keep the label affixed to the container so you can share you personality long after the candle has burned down.

How do I get the leftover wax out of my candle container?

We highly encourage you to reuse your candle container (or vessel), but you'll need to get the leftover wax and the wick out of the bottom of the candle.  Its easy! 

• 1. Pour boiling water into the container and let the wax loosen up. 
• 2. Once it's loose and the water has cooled a bit (won't take long), use a knife to scrape the wax off the bottom of the candle.
• 3. Once you get most of the wax out of the candle holder, pour boiling water in it again.
• 4. Pour out the water and use a paper towel to get the rest of the wax out and clean the rest of the container.
• 5. At this point, you container should be completely wax free! 

What are the benefits of coconut wax?

We did a lot of research before ultimately choosing coconut wax for our candles. Many natural hand-poured candles use soy wax, but we found that the scent throw was not nearly as strong and the wax did not give the perfect finish we needed.  Although coconut wax is more expensive, it was worth it for us to pass on all those benefits to you!  ​ It's also the best for the environment (besides beeswax, which doesn't carry fragrance well) with sustainable practices in place to collect natural coconut wax. Even soy wax, which has been the preferred wax of boutique candle makers for years, has had some concerns raised recently, including deforestation in South America associated with an increase in soy demand. 

 ​Here are a few other reasons for coconut wax:

• - Coconut oil is sourced naturally 

- It burns slowly, evenly, and cleanly! 

- Has a great scent throw - by far the best in all of our testing.  

- Deforestation practices associated with palm oil and, increasingly, soy oil does not exist with coconut oil (we will continue to research this and make sure that is still the case in the future).

Shipping Policy

Order Processing ​

It typically takes 5-7 business days for orders to process and leave our warehouse. Processing times do not account for weekends or holidays. Orders are processed in the order in which they are received. We offer a number of shipping options which can be selected at checkout. Shipping costs may vary depending on weight, postal code, and shipping method. Remote locations may require additional time for delivery.   

Standard Domestic Shipping ​

Standard Domestic Shipping rates will vary based on package weight and shipping address. We try to have flat rate shipping rates to accommodate the weight of the candle and bulk of the order.  Please message us if you would like to discuss shipping rates and we will get back to you ASAP.  Please allow 5-7 business days for processing and 2 – 4 business days for transit within the USA. Delivery times are based on orders placed between Monday – Friday. All orders received after 2 PM PST will begin processing the next business day.   

Order Tracking ​

When your order is ready to be shipped (5-7 business days after the order has been placed), you will receive a shipment confirmation e-mail. The e-mail will contain shipment details, your tracking number, and a link to the selected carrier site. To track the order, click on the tracking number located near the bottom of the e-mail. This link will provide the most up-to-date order information from the time your order is shipped until the time it is received. If you receive your confirmation email after 2 PM PST on a Friday, please allow until the following Monday for tracking to become available.   

Business Days & Holidays ​

All orders process and ship Monday - Friday, excluding federal holidays within the United States. 

If the order is placed after the cut-off time, it will be processed the following business day. 

Packages do not ship from our distribution centers on weekends or the following US holidays: New Year’s Day Martin Luther King Jr. Day President's Day Memorial Day 4th of July Labor Day Columbus Day Veteran's Day Thanksgiving Christmas.

Acknowledgement Regarding Products Available on the Site
